WHO WE ARE/WHO YOU ARE
We don't share your grandma's view about diabetes or being diabetic, that's for sure! DIVABETIC is foremost, a diabetes outreach organization whose goals are designed to promote above all, a positive attitude and help build esteem among people living with diabetes today. Our theme and identity is based on motivation, as well as encouraging early detection and prevention.
We coined the phrase 'divabetic' because we want every diabetic to apply a diva's bold, sassy personae and stance to dealing with diabetes. We believe, if we empower the diva in you to manage your blood sugar properly you will strive to be at your best which will invariably help lower the risks associated with the disease such as, stroke, amputation and blindness.
DIVABETIC’s new ‘DENIAL’S NOT MY STYLE’ Awareness Campaign specifically targets the 3 million people in the U.S. who are currently unaware that they are diabetic. ‘DENIAL’S NOT MY STYLE’ merchandise promotes a ‘living life right’ mind-set by encouraging early diabetes screening and prevention.

DIVABETIC works in partnership with The Diabetes Center Of New Jersey, an affiliate of the SOLARIS Health System to provide ‘BEE A D.I.V.A.’ Workshops -- they are a fashion friendly 'Med & Mascara' twist to traditional diabetes education, support and information. The four major principles outlined in ‘BEE A D.I.V.A’ are to ("Bee" Disciplined) ("Bee" Informed) ("Bee" Visible) ("Bee”Active). Our presentation of the 'BEE a D.I.V.A’ outline, includes tips on proper portion control, trouble-free carbohydrate counting, traditional DCNJ diabetes education, self-esteem builders and motivational tools with daily activity/fitness guidelines. Our message is support and our aim is to enlighten, not frighten the next generation of newly diagnosed diabetics as well provide further encouragement to those who are currently diagnosed with the disease.
DIVABETIC's education outreach, SUGAR SAVVY, proposes a goal to eliminate the guesswork involved with dining out for people living with diabetes by clearly labeling smart choice meal options based on carbohydrate content with SUGAR SAVVY menu stickers.
A percentage of the sale of all DIVABETIC merchandise available on-line as well as proceeds from our ongoing fundraising events support the good works of various diabetes related charities, including The Diabetes Center of NJ, The Stroke of Hope Foundation and The Charles Ray III Diabetes Association.
DIVABETIC was inspired by Luther Vandross and created by his assistant, Max Szadek.
