D.I.V.A. & CONQUER with our 'Knockout' Diabetes Outreach
Our first D.I.V.A. HAT BOXING Competition was held at Grace Baptist Church on Friday, November 4th, 2005. Mrs. Inez Richardson, the first lady of Grace Baptist Church, and the Grace Baptist Church Health & Wholeness Ministry played host to an exciting night of "DENIAL'S NOT MY STYLE" diabetes outreach featuring dance performances, motivational speakers, diabetes educators, hat boxing competitors and of course a wonderful array of spectacular hats on sale benefiting the Grace Baptist Church Health & Wholeness Ministry!
D.I.V.A. HAT BOXING Competitions are hat box decorating contests sponsored by Harlem's Heaven Hat Boutique promoting a take charge ?diva? attitude towards living with diabetes. Our goal is to expand the appeal of diabetes outreach, award artistic expression, celebrate the beauty, power and strength of women and honor all people living with diabetes.
We believe if you look good you feel good. Taking care of yourself is foremost before taking care of others. That's why we feel encouraging women to act and think like 'divas' will help all people living with diabetes lead fuller, healthier and richer lives.
The "D.I.V.A." attitude and self-confidence essential to wearing "crowns" to weekly services is the same kind of positive attitude we're promoting to help you take control of your diabetes and avoid serious health related consequences.

Each HAT BOXING contestant received a "GLAM MORE, FEAR LESS" gift bag from DIVABETIC with prizes and gifts from dLifeTV, Steve and Tom Cards, Idonia by Apple Blossom, ANIMAS Corporation, the Muhlenberg Foundation, Crest and Johnson & Johnson.

DIVA BALL RAFFLE gifts were provided by Mtv Networks, J Records and Kennisha Gil Promotions. Hosted by DIVABETIC "Hall of Famer" Heather and her husband, Vince.
MESS MAKE-UP awarded complimentary GLAM MORE, FEAR LESS Makeovers to 3 women in the audience who each have been living with diabetes for over 30 years in honor of their commitment to care.
